observer1.exe plugin readme

Install:

a. Create a copy of your Blitzin 2 icon: right-click on the icon and select Copy, then right-click on the desktop and select Paste. If you wish, you can also rename this new icon by right-clicking on it and selecting Rename.

b. Edit the icon's command line: right-click on the new icon, select Properties, click on the Shortcut tab, and go to the textfield labelled Target.

c. Specify the filename of the plugin: in the Target textfield, after c:\blitzin2\Blitzin2.exe (or similar), add a space, then add /plugin=observer1.exe.  This assumes the plugin is in the same directory as Blitzin 2; if not, you need to specify the full path as well, for example /plugin=c:\blitzin2\myplugins\observer1.exe. If the path has a space in it for example 'program files' you need to put the whole path in quotes. example /plugin="c:\program files\internet chess\blitzin\observer1.exe".

d.  Two or more plugins can be installed for example by adding /plugin=art.exe /plugin=observer1.exe to the target line.  This would install both the art plugin and the observer1 plugin and both would launch with blitzin.

Use:

Observer1 lets you follow multiple people by adding them to your follow list.  It does this by adding people you follow to your icc gnotify list, game notify.  'help notify' has a paragraph about gnotify.

To follow a player enter their name in the text box were it says enter name then click the add/gnotify button.  To remove them click on their name in the follow list then hit remove/-gnotify to both remove them from observer1's follow list and your icc gnotify list or just hit remove if you want to keep them on your icc gnotify list but not follow them with observer1.  You can also type the name and then hit one of the remove buttons.  If your done watching games and want to clear observer1's follow list at once hit the remove all button it will remove the players on the follow list from observer1's list  and remove those players from your icc gnotify list.

Observer1 allows you to set the maximum number of boards you want to pop up. The default is 2 but it can be set to any number from 0-32. At 0 observer1 will not follow anyone.  At 2 it will follow the next person on your follow list to start a game untill you are watching 2 boards then it will not pop up another board unless a game ends even if someone on the list starts a game. To see more games increase the number of boards you will allow open.  Games you observe on your own count toward this total.

Observer1 also allows you to set a minimum etime before observing. etime is estimated time for a game.  The default is 0 meaning you will watch any game but if you set it for example to 3 only blitz games or slower will pop up. This would allow you to follow a group of players for example but exclude any bullet games. In additon there is a check box to only watch games of the etime you set in minimum etime. So if you set it to 3 you will only watch 3 0 games or other variations like 1 3 that have an etime of 3.  You can also check the box to not watch games with increment.

Observer1 when you launch it is set to only follow names you enter in to the follow list.  But if you have players on gnotify you can follow them anyway without adding them to your follow list by selecting the follow all notifications radio button.  To stop this behavior select the follow list only radio button.  Its possible to add groups to your icc gnotify list such as +gnotify &gm or +gnotify &im.  If you do this the follow all notifications selection would allow you to follow these group gnotifications up to your max boards without inputing player names.  So by selecting the follow all button and setting max games to 1 and typeing on icc +gnotify &gm you would be able to follow gm games in general as they start one game at a time.  A minimum etime could be applied if for example you wanted to screen out any 1 0 games.

In addition if you select all notifications another slider will pop up that allows you to set from your max boards so many boards that will only open if a player from your follow list is playing. This allows you to for example set maxboards at 2 and reserved boards at 1 and follow your gnotifiations in general up to max boards after reserved boards are deducted which in this case is 2-1 or 1 board but if a player on your follow list plays you can then watch it increasing your boards to 2 in this case.  Again this would allow you to follow a group like gms while keeping a board or several boards free in case a particular player starts playing who you inputed to your follow list.

More options:

In addition to follow follow list or all gnotificaitons you can now select none and turn off following tell you make another selection of follow list or all notifications.

There are 3 check boxes on the bottom to filter out and not watch games that are wild, unrated or standard.  Standard is defined as any game of 15 minutes or more.  You can check one, two or all three.  This allows you to avoid watching these types of games.
